Erika Bjork

artist, designer & survivor

In early 2022, I was diagnosed with breast cancer and my life instantly changed. I took a break from business to focus on my health and found joy in creating when I could. For me, painting is a way to express myself when I can’t find the words. It’s intuitive and calming.

Going through challenging times with my health dramatically changed my priorities. I’ve recently transformed many aspects of my life and business and am excited to announce some updates soon! I’ve been embracing living in the present and have been actively transforming my business into one that brings me joy and also best serves my clients.

I started my career back in 2012 as a graphic designer and artist in NYC and have had a wide range of design experience ever since. Returning from an extended health break, my focus has shifted back to stationery design and I’m absolutely loving it. I love how wedding invitations are the perfect intersection of artwork and graphic design. I create all of the artwork for my designs which allows me to create personalized invitations that help you set the tone for your wedding and wow your guests!

In addition to my creative side, I am also very organized and detail-oriented, which works out perfectly as a wedding vendor. For me this business is a dream come true. It brings me so much joy bringing your vision to life.

Some fun facts about me:

Coffee Lover: I almost always have a cup of coffee by my side as I’m creating. In fact, I’ve had a few close calls with almost drinking paint water - yikes! Not only was I previously a barista who enjoyed creating latte art, I was also a professional cookie decorator for a period of time. Always enjoying the creative side of life!

Studio Cats: I have 2 cats that take turns keeping me company in the studio. April sits with me for most of the day as I create - she may even make an appearance during our video calls!

Dancing & Celebrating: I love to dance, sing and celebrate! I’ll be over here cheering you on through all of life’s moments. At a wedding, you can find me on the dance floor. In addition to dancing at weddings, I have been tap dancing for over 20 years - I just love the rhythm of it!

A little bit of luck: I find four leaf clovers all the time. Over the years, I’ve found hundreds! I’d like to think I’m lucky, but I think I just notice the details around me.

Style & Quality

I am an illustrator turned graphic designer and wedding stationery perfectly combines my love for both. I mainly work in watercolor, gouache, acrylic, and line artwork within my designs.

I have a special place in my heart for paper goods and work with vendors across the country that I trust to deliver outstanding results. Whether you purchase something from my stationery shop or we work together on a custom product, you can count on receiving something special.

Inspiration

I find inspiration everywhere I go and for custom artwork, a lot of my inspiration comes from my clients! I love hearing your love story and ideas for your wedding day and bring your vision to life!

Stationery in my online shop is largely inspired by my own personal experiences, travels and love for florals.

I’m currently developing a line of personalized wedding stationery that merges my interests in abstract art and florals/nature. I can’t wait to share more soon!

Journal Donations

After going through breast cancer treatments, I wanted to find a way to give back to others going through something similar. Journaling helped me throughout my treatments, not only to process emotions, but also to take notes and stay organized with all of my appointments and information. Although there is not currently an official donation program, Bjork Design Co. finds opportunities to donate journals to cancer survivors including through non-profit organizations, infusion centers, and businesses that serve the cancer community.

Journals Donated: 18
